Louise Kids Chess Tournament

The Louise Branch Library is hosting a Kids Chess Tournament on Monday, February 19, 2024 and Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 6:00pm.

Children (3rd -12th grade) with a basic knowledge of chess are invited. Each participant will be required to register in person at the Louise Branch Library, 803 Thirds St, Louise or with Mr. Kopnicky at the Louise High School. Check in time on both days will be from 5:30pm-5:55pm. The tournament is a timed event and will start at 6pm.


Wharton: Terrarium Workshop

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Terrarium Workshop on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Wharton Main Library has been canceled.

The workshop has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 10:30am – 12:00pm. This FREE Terrarium Workshop lead by Estrellita Coronado is for ages 10 and up and all materials will be provided. Call (979)532-8080 to register since seating is limited!


Louise: Lego Club

We are excited to announce that the Louise Branch Library will be starting a FREE Lego Club. Children ages 5 and up are invited every 4th Monday of the month at 4:30pm. Just bring your imagination and we will supply the Legos! The next Lego Club will be Monday, February 26, 2024 at 4:30pm.


Louise: Coffee Club

The Louise Branch Library invites you to our monthly Coffee Club every second Monday of the month at 10 am. We will discuss books and special community events. Coffee, water and refreshments will be provided.
Our next Coffee Club will be on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 10 am!

Wharton: Lego Club

Wharton Main Library will again have their Lego Club in 2024.

The first Lego Club will be on Thursday, March 21, 2024 between 4:30pm and 5:45pm.

Kids between 3 and 17 years old are invited and you can come any time between 4:30pm and 5:45pm. This is a come-and-go event, so members may stay as little or as long as they’d like. After joining, participation each month is not mandatory, but members will be rewarded each time they come to build.

We supply the Legos, you supply the imagination! Come build with us!


Notary Services

The Wharton County Library System is proud to announce a new service to the community of Wharton County.

The Wharton Main Branch and the El Campo Branch will now provide notary public service to county residents.

Lulu Meek, Circulation Librarian of the Wharton Main Branch and Renee Harrell, Reference Librarian of the El Campo Branch are more than happy to serve the public’s notary needs.
