Wharton: Do well, be well with Diabetes

Wharton Main Library is excited to host Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes, a 5‑week class for people with Type 2 Diabetes presented by Lori Garcia from Texas A&M and sponsored by Angel Health Care.

This program covers how food affects blood glucose, choosing the right amount of carbohydrates, improving glucose control with or without medication, and even enjoying treats while managing diabetes.

Classes will be held on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, running February 24 through March 24.

Wharton: Aging Mastery Program

Wharton Main Library is excited to host a 10‑Week Aging Mastery Program!
Build your own personal playbook for aging well with this fun and innovative program designed to help you take meaningful steps toward improving your well‑being, adding stability to your life, and strengthening your connection to the community.
Meet new friends, support one another, and enjoy the journey together as you take the Aging Mastery Program step by step. This series will be presented by Misty Sullivan with the Houston‑Galveston Area Agency on Aging office.
Participants will explore topics such as navigating longer lives, exercise, sleep, healthy eating and hydration, financial fitness, medication management, advance planning, healthy relationships, fall prevention, and community engagement.
Classes meet every Wednesday morning from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm from January 7, 2026 through March 11, 2026 at Wharton Main Library.

East Bernard: Texas before the Lone Star

The East Bernard Branch Library is excited to welcome The Pioneer Women Texas Storytellers for their engaging program, Texas Before the Lone Star. This special presentation explores the history of Texas—its land, its people, and the six flags that flew over it—long before statehood in 1846. You’ll also hear stories written by children that imagine what life in Texas may have been like between 1700 and 1836. The afternoon will feature rich storytelling along with a Taste of Texas Chili.

Wharton: Connect & Chill Game edition

The Wharton Main Library is excited to host its very first Connect & Chill: Game Edition! Come hang out and play games both online and offline. Bring your Switch, controllers, and favorite games, or jump into the fun with our setup.

We’ll have multiplayer games projected on the walls, board games throughout the library, and plenty of popcorn to keep the fun going. All ages are welcome to join in.

El Campo: Attracting Butterflies to your garden

The El Campo Branch Library is delighted to host “Attracting Butterflies to Your Garden,” a special program presented by Master Gardener Marilyn Haupt, a member of the Galveston County Master Gardener Association. Join us on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Mayor’s Room at the El Campo Branch Library.

Learn how to invite butterflies into your garden, create a thriving habitat, and enjoy watching them grow and flourish. We’ll also have door prizes and light refreshments for attendees.

Wharton Main Library is excited to host “Budget-Friendly Gardening on the Texas Gulf Coast,” presented by Joshua Bradford and David Rodriguez on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 10:00am–12:00pm.
 
This engaging workshop will explore affordable ways to start and maintain a garden, with tips tailored specifically to our coastal climate. You’ll learn practical strategies for keeping costs low, managing pests, and making gardening accessible for every skill level. A hands-on seed‑planting activity will also be included.

Wharton Main Library, in collaboration with Angels Healthcare, invites you to Rhythm in Your Seat on Monday, March 16, 2026, and Monday, March 23, 2026 from 1:00pm–2:00pm.

Join Our Writers Club at Wharton Main Library!

Wharton: Lego Club

Join us every third Thursday of the month from 4:30pm-5:45pm at Wharton Main Library for our LEGO Club. Kids between 3 and 17 years old are invited and you can come any time between 4:30pm and 5:45pm. This is a come-and-go event, so members may stay as little or as long as they’d like. After joining, participation each month is not mandatory, but members will be rewarded each time they come to build.

We supply the Legos, you supply the imagination! Come build with us!


Wharton: Warhammer Club

Join the Warhammer Club at Wharton Main Library!
Come and experience the world’s greatest hobby! Build and paint your first miniature, play your first game, and dive into the universe of Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Age of Sigmar. All supplies will be provided. The Warhammer Club meets every third Tuesday of the month from 4:30pm-7:00pm.

Join the Chess Club at Wharton Main Library!

Wharton Main Library is proud to host regular Chess Club sessions for players ages 8 and up. Whether you're a seasoned strategist or just beginning to explore the game, the Chess Club offers a welcoming space to sharpen your skills, meet fellow enthusiasts, and enjoy friendly competition.

Sessions are held every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, along with one Saturday session each month from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. No registration is required—just bring your love for the game and join us.
