Louise: The SAD Holiday Series

Not everyone feels merry when the days get shorter—and that’s okay.

The Louise Branch Library is hosting a thoughtful and informative series on understanding Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.), presented by Kashara Bell, Prairie View A&M University Extension Agent.

This free program offers a safe and supportive space to share, reflect, and connect. Join us for one, two, or all three sessions as we explore how to recognize the signs of S.A.D., manage seasonal depression, and discover practical mental-wellness tools for the darker months.

Let’s talk openly, learn together, and support one another through the season.

Rock Painting Program for All Ages!
 
Let your creativity shine at the library on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Join us for a fun-filled Rock Painting Program where you can design a one-of-a-kind masterpiece for our Rock Garden at the entrance—and paint another to take home as a keepsake.

Wharton: Medicare One-on-One workshop

Take Charge of Your Medicare!
Join us at Wharton Main Library on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Saturday, November 8, 2025 or Thursday, December 4, 2025, for a special Medicare Program with Alex Rischan from the Houston-Galveston Area Council on Aging. Alex will provide free and unbiased information tailored to your specific situation. One-on-one appointments are available between 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM on both days. Wharton: Writers Club

Join Our Writers Club at Wharton Main Library!
Are you between 12 and 18 years old and love to write? Join our new Writers Club! Share your work, collaborate with peers, dive into your favorite genres, and get exclusive support from the Horror Writers Association.
The Writers Club meets every 2nd Thursday of the month from 4:30pm-5:30pm at the Wharton Main Library. The next meeting will be Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 4:30pm.

Wharton: Lego Club

Join us every third Thursday of the month from 4:30pm-5:45pm at Wharton Main Library for our LEGO Club. Kids between 3 and 17 years old are invited and you can come any time between 4:30pm and 5:45pm. This is a come-and-go event, so members may stay as little or as long as they’d like. After joining, participation each month is not mandatory, but members will be rewarded each time they come to build.

We supply the Legos, you supply the imagination! Come build with us!


Wharton: Warhammer Club

Join the Warhammer Club at Wharton Main Library!
The Wharton Main Library is thrilled to announce a new club for 2025: Warhammer Club. Come and experience the world’s greatest hobby! Build and paint your first miniature, play your first game, and dive into the universe of Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Age of Sigmar. All supplies will be provided. The Warhammer Club meets every third Tuesday of the month from 4:30pm-7:00pm.

Wharton: Chess Club

Join the Chess Club at Wharton Main Library!

Wharton Main Library is proud to host regular Chess Club sessions for players ages 8 and up. Whether you're a seasoned strategist or just beginning to explore the game, the Chess Club offers a welcoming space to sharpen your skills, meet fellow enthusiasts, and enjoy friendly competition.

Sessions are held every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, along with one Saturday session each month from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. No registration is required—just bring your love for the game and join us.

El Campo Lego Club

The El Campo Library is excited to announce the launch of its new Lego Club, open to children ages 3 to 17. Starting this fall, the club will meet once a month on Tuesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM. This is a come-and-go event, perfect for builders of all ages and skill levels.

Upcoming dates include October 14, November 18, and December 9, 2025. We provide the Lego—you bring your imagination. Come build with us and let your creativity shine at the El Campo Library.

Stemsday Wednesday

The East Bernard Branch Library is excited to announce a brand-new monthly event: STEMsDay Wednesday. Starting this September, we invite children ages 6 to 17 to join us every first Wednesday of the month for hands-on activities that explore the worlds of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The first STEMsDay Wednesday kicks off on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Participants will discover new resources available at the library and dive into engaging challenges designed to spark curiosity and creativity.

Come explore, experiment, and expand your mind—STEMsDay Wednesday is where learning meets fun.


East Bernard Preschool Storytime

Join Ms. Sandra every Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the East Bernard Branch Library for Preschool Storytime. This weekly program is perfect for children up to 5 years old and features engaging stories, fun activities, and early learning experiences. Be sure to check the flyer to see what exciting themes and crafts are planned each week. It’s a great way to start your child’s day with imagination, laughter, and learning.
