The East Bernard Branch Library invites you to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day. What is your dream.
 
As a way to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King, we encourage you to fill out a dream hand available during library hours in the Teen Area. Write or draw whatever represents the dreams you have for the world, your family, or yourself.
 
Be part of our community display, which will remain up in the Teen Area through January 31, 2026.

Martin Luther King Jr Day Closures

All branches of the Wharton County Library System are closed today, Monday, January 19, 2026 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
All branches will resume regular hours on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Wharton: Valentine Giveaway

Wharton Main Library – Fall in Love With Reading!
 
The Wharton Main Library is celebrating the season with a special Valentine Giveaway running for the next four weeks. Giveaway ends Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Adults who check out 5 books from our adult fiction or nonfiction sections will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card. Turn your love of reading into a Dinner for Two.

El Campo Branch Library – Sweet Reads Giveaway!
 
The El Campo Branch Library is spreading the love with a Valentine Giveaway starting January 14, 2026.
Check out 5 items and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a pink or tan Valentine’s Bear and a box of chocolates — a perfect treat for book lovers.
 
The winner will be announced on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Wharton: Aging Mastery Program

Wharton Main Library is excited to host a 10‑Week Aging Mastery Program!
Build your own personal playbook for aging well with this fun and innovative program designed to help you take meaningful steps toward improving your well‑being, adding stability to your life, and strengthening your connection to the community.
Meet new friends, support one another, and enjoy the journey together as you take the Aging Mastery Program step by step. This series will be presented by Misty Sullivan with the Houston‑Galveston Area Agency on Aging office.
Participants will explore topics such as navigating longer lives, exercise, sleep, healthy eating and hydration, financial fitness, medication management, advance planning, healthy relationships, fall prevention, and community engagement.
Classes meet every Wednesday morning from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm from January 7, 2026 through March 11, 2026 at Wharton Main Library.

Wharton: Do well, be well with Diabetes

Wharton Main Library is excited to host Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes, a 5‑week class for people with Type 2 Diabetes presented by Lori Garcia from Texas A&M and sponsored by Angel Health Care.

This program covers how food affects blood glucose, choosing the right amount of carbohydrates, improving glucose control with or without medication, and even enjoying treats while managing diabetes.

Classes will be held on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, running February 24 through March 24.

Louise: Open House

The Louise Branch Library warmly invites you to our annual Open House on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This come‑and‑go event will feature door prizes and light refreshments, making it the perfect time to stop by, visit with neighbors, and celebrate the community.

Wharton Main Library is hosting its monthly Senior Wellness Hour on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Lani Aves, FNP‑C from the PrimeMed Clinic in East Bernard, will be presenting and sharing information about medical services available at their clinic.

Wharton: Writers Club

Join Our Writers Club at Wharton Main Library!
Are you between 12 and 18 years old and love to write? Join our new Writers Club! Share your work, collaborate with peers, dive into your favorite genres, and get exclusive support from the Horror Writers Association.
The Writers Club meets every 2nd Thursday of the month from 4:30pm-5:30pm at the Wharton Main Library.
We can't wait to see your creativity in action!

Wharton: Lego Club

Join us every third Thursday of the month from 4:30pm-5:45pm at Wharton Main Library for our LEGO Club. Kids between 3 and 17 years old are invited and you can come any time between 4:30pm and 5:45pm. This is a come-and-go event, so members may stay as little or as long as they’d like. After joining, participation each month is not mandatory, but members will be rewarded each time they come to build.

We supply the Legos, you supply the imagination! Come build with us!


Wharton: Warhammer Club

Join the Warhammer Club at Wharton Main Library!
Come and experience the world’s greatest hobby! Build and paint your first miniature, play your first game, and dive into the universe of Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Age of Sigmar. All supplies will be provided. The Warhammer Club meets every third Tuesday of the month from 4:30pm-7:00pm.

Join the Chess Club at Wharton Main Library!

Wharton Main Library is proud to host regular Chess Club sessions for players ages 8 and up. Whether you're a seasoned strategist or just beginning to explore the game, the Chess Club offers a welcoming space to sharpen your skills, meet fellow enthusiasts, and enjoy friendly competition.

Sessions are held every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, along with one Saturday session each month from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. No registration is required—just bring your love for the game and join us.

Calling all anime fans ages 13 and up!

The El Campo Library is excited to continue hosting its monthly Lego Club. Children ages 3 to 17 are invited to join us once a month on Tuesdays from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM for a fun, come‑and‑go building experience perfect for all ages and skill levels.

Lego Club

The East Bernard Branch Library is excited to announce its brand‑new Lego Club, Ready Set Lego! Join us every last Monday of the month from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. This free, come‑and‑go event is open to children ages 3–17.

The very first Ready Set Lego! meeting will be held on Monday, January 26, 2025, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. We can’t wait to see all the creativity that builds up.


East Bernard Preschool Storytime

Join Ms. Sandra every Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the East Bernard Branch Library for Preschool Storytime. This weekly program is perfect for children up to 5 years old and features engaging stories, fun activities, and early learning experiences. Be sure to check the flyer to see what exciting themes and crafts are planned each week. It’s a great way to start your child’s day with imagination, laughter, and learning.
