Our East Bernard Location

The East Bernard Branch Library is the gathering place for East Bernard’s most prominent citizens.  The library opened its doors in the early 70’s and began serving young and old alike.  In 2001, the library was renovated to include a spacious children’s area, and a large community room where citizens could gather for various civic engagements.  The library has a wonderful selection of material for check-out to the public.  The library has a large computer area with up-to-date computers which are internet ready.  There are also two librarians ready to help patrons with any questions or needs.  The library also has a public copy machine that can print in color or black and white.  To quote a regular patron that comes to the library often, “The East Bernard Branch Library is the very best library in Wharton County”.

Patricia Orsak – Branch Manager, East Bernard Branch

My name is Patricia Orsak. Prior to becoming the Branch Manager of the East Bernard Branch Library in 2018, I taught Science at the East Bernard Jr. High School for 34 years. The first thing I realized in teaching in East Bernard, is this is an outstanding community. I was blessed with the best parents in the world. They whole heartedly supported everything I taught the children and helped in any way possible. This is what makes East Bernard so special.

After retiring from the school district, I just began my fourth year as the Branch Manager of the East Bernard Branch Library and am loving every minute of it. I love helping patrons find that perfect weekend read. I love helping patrons learn to print out that label for the package they need to return. I love hearing the children giggle with glee when they see a new book on the shelf they have not read yet. Most of all, I love when I recognize the eyes of my former students, now parents of young children, sharing their love of reading with their little ones.

Sandra Briones – Children’s Librarian, East Bernard Branch

Hi, I am Mrs. Sandra and I have been the children’s librarian here for 15 wonderful years.

When I started, my children were all in school and I found myself needing to be more involved in the community, as much as I was involved in the school. Before I became the children’s librarian, I was a teacher’s aide with the Spring Independent School District. I was informed that the library needed a children’s librarian, so I applied for the job. The best choice I ever made, for my family and my new library family. Family is very important to me and I carry that love of family into my storytelling. I enjoy reading to my little library patrons, as well as developing crafts that educate and help with their developmental skills. Making them smile, makes me smile. Their happiness is my happiness.
